Dr. James Long, MD a Board Certified Cosmetic Plastic Surgeon administers Voluma injections typically within 15-45 minutes depending on the number of syringes used. Once Dr. Long finishes the injection(s), the results can be seen immediately. Dr. Long will make you comfortable and at ease during the injection process so you have a great experience.
Dr. James Long will initially make some skin marks to identify the landmarks of the injection. Then, by using an ultra-fine needle or a smooth-tipped cannula, the dermal filler is injected into the target area with minimal discomfort. Dr. James Long will show you step by step of the process so you know what is being done. At the end, Dr. James Long will massage the treatment area to avoid bumps, lips or any irregularities. In certain critical areas like cheek area underneath the eyes, Dr. Long will use topical anesthesia to maximize the prevention of bruising while making the procedure painless.

What are the most common side effects of Voluma Dermal filler?

What should I do before treatment with Voluma dermal filler?

Acetaminophen (Tylenol) can be safely taken prior any injection since it doesn’t increase the risk of post injection bruising.
What should I do after treatment with Voluma dermal filler?
Patients are refrain from taking any medication or dietary supplement that can act as a blood thinner for 48 hours after injections. Patients should also refrain from doing exercise for at least 24 hours after injection (exercise increases temporarily the blood pressure, thus increasing the risks of bruising at the injection sites). Patents are also are recommended to ice the treated area with ice packs for at least 6 to 10 hours post treatment.
